Cost For Raising 500 broiler birds.

Except in the festive periods where the price of buying a day old chick (DOC) can rise as high as ₦400; it is usually sold for ₦250 in my community, however, this may vary in other communities.

Expenses

DOC 500 @250 = ₦125000

50 bags of feeds (50kg) @ ₦9000 = ₦450000

Drugs and Vaccines = ₦16000

If well-fed, a broiler can weigh 2kg after 7 weeks: Let’s assume we lost 10% of the broilers, we have 450 left.

A Kilogram of broiler is purchased for ₦1000 in my community.

If we calculate: 1 broiler = 2kg after 7 weeks; likewise, 450 broilers = 900kg after 7 weeks.

900kg × ₦1000 = ₦900000

Profit = Income – Expenses

₦900000 – 591000 = ₦309000

In summary, after building your poultry farmhouse, done the electrical installation and bought all other necessary equipment like feeders, drinkers, etc. you can make a whopping ₦309000 as profit every 2 months from raising 500 poultry birds with 10% mortality rate.
