Note that you have to use the mobile number that you used to register for your union bank account.
Basic steps to activate Union bank USSD code
Step 1. With your alert number dial *826# and reply with 1 afterward.
Step 2. Enter your union bank 10 digit number and create a 4 digit pin afterward.
Step 3. Enter the last 4 digits of your MasterCard as required and proceed afterward.
If you follow all the steps above you will receive a notification SMS of successful registration. With that, you can now transfer money, buy airtime and do other transactions with the union bank USSD code.
How to create union bank transfer pin
Once you create a transfer PIN no transaction can be made from your mobile phone without authentication. This helps you secure the funds in your Union bank account.
Here is how to create a transfer pin
- dial *826*5# on the phone number you registered with Union bank.
- Select create a PIN and input any four-digit PIN of your choice afterward.
This PIN will henceforth be used for authenticating any transaction you make.

- Enter your secure PIN to confirm your transaction.

If the transaction is successful you’ll receive a debit alert confirming your transaction.
You can send up to 200,000 Naira daily using this code and there are no transaction charges if the transfer is done to another union bank account. However, if the transfer is to other banks a service fee of 52.5 will be charged.
Similarly, there is a charge of 2-5 if you use an MTN network but it is free for other networks such as Glo, Airtel, and 9mobile.
Union bank transfer code for airtime
You can only buy airtime from your Union bank account with your registered number. That’s after activating the USSD code, you can either buy airtime for yourself or others.
To buy airtime for yourself or top-up your SIM, you can simply dial *826*amount#. For instance, dial *826*500# and enter your transfer pin.
Similarly to buy airtime for your friends or families or another number from your union bank account, then you can simply dial *826*amount*recipient’s mobile no#, and enter your transfer pin.
USSD code limits & charges
Limits:
The daily limit per transaction is ₦200,000. That’s, you cannot transfer more than ₦200,000 naira in one day. However, If you wish to increase your daily transfer limit you can visit any UBN branch near you or contact customer care online.
Charges:
- When you send money to any Union Bank accounts with the USSD code it is absolutely free. That’s no other money will be deducted from your account apart from the exact transfer amount.
- When you transfer to none UBN accounts it will attract a service fee of ₦52.5 only per transaction.
Other things to know about UBN
- This service is only available to UBN account holders.
- Irrespective of the mobile network you use such as MTN, AIRTEL, GLO, and 9Mobile, this service is available on them.
- You can make transfers from your individual current or savings account. However, Corporate Accounts, Joint Accounts, Target Savings Accounts & Domiciliary accounts cannot use the Union Bank transfer code.
- No internet connection is needed for using the USSD code, but you need a strong mobile network signal.
